The outlook for employment in our region is surprisingly good, with typically higher wages and a lower cost of living. With the average age of our local populations in the 50+ years of age there are a number of career opportunities available here in the North that simply don’t exist anywhere else. Health Care: * New Nursing & Medical Graduates can enjoy the benefits of higher wages, lower cost of living, AND Tuition Support & Grants for Return of service agreements by working in our Northern Region checkout –Guidelines for Nurse Application – (Ministry of Health & LTC) and Nurses & Doctors can apply for Family doctors and family medicine residents may be eligible for forgiveness of $8,000 per year to a maximum of $40,000 over five years. Nurses and
nurse practitioners may be eligible for forgiveness of $4,000 per year to a maximum of $20,000 over five years towards the Canada Student Loan portion of their Student loans.
Personal Support Workers: Many of the Long-term care homes have options to participate in your qualification training while in employment at the Care Home, contact individual care homes to see what options they have available for aspiring PSW’s.
